Sounds good, right? Let's get started!įlying in WoW Shadowlands and Zereth Mortisįlying represents the fastest mode of movement in World of Warcraft. We will go through all the steps required to unlock flying in these zones to ensure you benefit from a smoother gaming experience while enjoying your favorite game. Then, you will learn how to fly in the new Zereth Mortis end-game zone, where you will spend most of your time as a level 60 character. They eventually settled on the Pathfinder scheme as the way to manage flying abilities and are now acknowledging that the pathfinder grind makes no sense for older content.Welcome to our WoW Shadowlands and Zereth Mortis Flying Guide for Patch 9.2.7! First, we will cover the new flying requirements and everything you need to know regarding flying in World of Warcraft Shadowlands, how to unlock it, where you can fly, and the most recent changes to the riding skills. Regardless of the specifics, the point is that flying ability for a particular expansion has been restricted in the past so players could experience ground art and blizzard has played with different methods of opening it up to alts. That, in turn changed to alts just being able to buy WotLK flying for 1K gold without needing a tome, and, eventually, to not requiring a purchase at all. They later changed that so that a level 80 with flying could buy a tome for 1K and mail it to alts eligible for questing in Northrend as soon as they became eligible to level in the expansion. In WotLK, you initially had to get to level 80 before buying flying for 1Kgold that would allow flying in other zones, including the level 80 areas of stormpeaks.- on that single character only. Not that it especially matters, but 77 was the required level for flying in LK as you were not able to traverse Storm Peaks to level without it.Īctually, you could get a “loaner” at level 77 from The flight master just outside of K3 that could be used on quests that required flying in the lower level storm peaks areas. WotLK’s only requirement was getting to level 80 to purchase cold weather flying. It doesn’t really make sense to keep it given the way they’re doing the level squish. I’m not sure how long they’ll keep the Pathfinder requirements for BfA zones. Pathfinder will be removed, as previously mentioned, for WoD and Legion zones with Shadowlands. WoD started Pathfinder, which made it so you didn’t buy flight on individual characters, but ensured that you had Loremaster, exploration, and some rep achievements before you could fly.Īt some point, they removed the need to purchase flight for specific zones in WotLK, Cata, MoP content, and if you had flying you could fly. MoP flight was purchased at 90, heirloom was available. Cata changed flying since it added old world (Azeroth) flying. I had to borrow gold at that point to be able to fly. Your first flying mount/training was very expensive. In BC, you couldn’t learn flying until 70. The only unique thing about WotLK was that they added an heirloom flight training manual that could be used by alts level 68+ (flying wasn’t open for all characters of appropriate level on achievement like with Pathfinders). Older expansions had requirements for flying in some of them as well - notably WotLK. Requirements to unlock flying in Battle for Azeroth, including Kul Tiras and Zandalar regions exploration, storylines, war campaigns and reputations. Wowhead Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder: How to Unlock Flying in BFA There is currently a 100% rep buff For the next few weeks so you will unlock BFA flying twice as fast. I would much rather level alts than unlocking flying in old expansions. Leveling from 90-110 is incredibly fast with no flying with the exp buff. I personally would not waste time unlocking flying in MOP, WOD, and legion right now. I would focus on getting to 120 and unlocking BFA flying. The Legion invasions give you super fast exp too. I level my alts through WOD with no flying in like 4 hours. The WOD zones have treasures and bonus objectives too. Questing is faster than dungeons 90-100 because there are no quests in the dungeons, and WOD questing is good and easy to navigate on the ground. At level 90 you should start questing in WOD. You don’t pay for flying anymore after level 80. Pathfinder is the requirements to unlock flying in all expansions start at MOP.
